Lewis's Woodpecker
Occurred the most disproportionately in hexagons with any ponderosa pine forest. In the more southerly of such areas, its distribution corresponded mostly with June precipitation (hex. med.) of 24-29 mm, whereas in the more northerly such areas, it occurred mostly in hexagons with a relatively warm May minimum temperature (hex. med.) of 1-5 C. Among hexagons having no little or no ponderosa pine forest, it was most likely where there are more than 1% ponderosa - white oak woodland. The logistic regression analysis showed positive or negative association with ponderosa pine forest, April precipitation (hex. min.), and-to a lesser degree-number of land cover types, ponderosa - white oak woodland, April minimum temperature (hex. min.), and April maximum temperature (hex. min.).
